About me

My name is Kym, I live in Sydney Australia and after having 2 children it is time to lose those extra kilos that I have gained. I was looking on the internet for a program to follow and came across Strip That Fat, after reading the information I decided to give it a go. I purchased the book on the 3rd January and have read it from front to back and am now following it to lose the weight.

I thought what better way to motivate myself to lose the weight than to share it with the world. So here is my blog of my weekly weight loss and how I am feeling.

Week 11 - Weigh in

Tuesday 24th March

YAY!!!! I have made it, I have hit the 60kg which was my goal weight. I am so happy with myself.

Here are the results for this week

Goal weight =60kg/130lbs

Weight & Measurements - Week 11
Weight = 60kg/132lbs - lost 100g :o)
Chest = 88cm/34.6" - lost 1cm
Waist = 80cm/31.4" - lost 2cm
Hips = 87cm/34.2" - Stayed the same
Thighs = 84.5cm/33.2" (legs together) - lost 3.5cm/1.3"

Way to go! I even lost some centimetres, I have been staying with my parents so have been able to fit in some exercise. Surprised that I didn't loose a bit more weight, but then you have to think that muscle is heavier than fat so that could be why.

Well I feel fantastic and have been able to fit into some of the clothes that I haven't worn for a couple of years, it is great. I feel like a new person, my husband likes it of course.

I will have to definitely put up some before and after pics next week. So stay tuned. :o)

Week 10- Weigh in

Tuesday 17th March

Another week passes and a little bit of weight lost :o)

I think that I will be posting my before and after photos next week, I should hopefully hit my goal weight, I am almost there. Very very proud of myself to have made it this far.

Goal weight =60kg/130lbs

Weight & Measurements - Week 10
Weight = 60.1kg/132lbs - lost 1kilo/2.2lb :o)
Chest = 89cm/35" - Stayed the same
Waist = 82cm/32.2" - Stayed the same
Hips = 87cm/34.2" - Stayed the same
Thighs = 88cm/34.6" (legs together) - Stayed the same

Woo hoo! I lost another kilo, I only have 100grams to loose to reach my goal weight. I can't believe it. I hope that I am able to loose that for next week, I would be hopeless if I couldn't.

I think that the more that you follow a program the easier it becomes, you become more aware of what you are eating, and how much you are eating. But now that I am almost there I have to be careful not to put it all back on. But I think that the program Strip that fat really sets you up ready for that, unlike the programs that give you your food. You need to be able to do it for yourself, makes you a stronger person. I feel great!

Week 9 - Weigh in

Tuesday 10th March

Not doing so well this week, I have not been able to curb the cravings so much this week. It is the week of the dreaded monthly's so that has not helped me. I always seem to crave sweet things at this time of the month, not good. I have been as good as I can be.

Goal weight =60kg/130lbs

Weight & Measurements - Week 9
Weight = 61.1kg/135lbs - lost 400g/1/2lb :o)
Chest = 89cm/35" - Stayed the same
Waist = 82cm/32.2" - Stayed the same
Hips = 87cm/34.2" - Stayed the same
Thighs = 88cm/34.6" (legs together) - Stayed the same

exactly the same as last week, lost 400g/1/2lb and the measurements have stayed the same. I will be so glad when I hit the 60kg as it seems to be taking me longer to get there in the last couple of weeks.

I will have to get in there and do some more exercise and boost the will power a bit more this week to see if I can get there for next week. I have to lose 1.1kgs this week to do it.  Here goes, wish me luck. :o)

Week 8 - Weigh in

Tuesday 3rd March

I can't believe it is week 8 already, I have been shopping and bought a couple of new tops, it feels so good to be able to wear nice clothes again. Well after my birthday weekend I didn't think that I would really lose that much, which I didn't but at least I didn't gain any.

Goal weight =60kg/130lbs

Weight & Measurements - Week 8
Weight = 61.5kg/135lbs - lost 400g/1/2lb :o)
Chest = 89cm/35" - Stayed the same
Waist = 82cm/32.2" - Stayed the same
Hips = 87cm/34.2" - Stayed the same
Thighs = 88cm/34.6" (legs together) - Stayed the same

I thought that it was going to be much worse than that, so I am very pleased with myself. Oh you should have seen though, yummy crackling off the roast pork, a couple of pieces of chocolate, cream on my poached plums. But I think what saved me was that I did a bit of extra exercise to compensate for all the naughtiness.

I know all these things were not in the program, but I did the best I could with what knowledge I had. Reading the book has helped to put food and exercise into perspective and know what to eat when and how much. I think that it is really helping me.

Hang in there you can do it too!

Week 7 - Weigh-in

Tuesday 24th February

Another week down and hopefully some more weight with it. I feel good but not sure if I have lost anything. I think that you always feel like that though when you are trying to lose weight, as you convince yourself that you haven't so when you have you are really happy.

Goal weight =60kg/130lbs

Weight & Measurements - Week 7
Weight = 61.9kg/136lbs - lost 1.1kg/2lb :o)
Chest = 89cm/35" - Stayed the same
Waist = 82cm/32.2" - Stayed the same
Hips = 87cm/34.2" - Stayed the same
Thighs = 88cm/34.6" (legs together) - Stayed the same

I didn't lose any cm at all but managed to lose 1.1kg/2lb, I am really pleased with that. When I measured myself I thought that I wouldn't have lost any weight, but then when I weighed myself 1.1kg gone.

Only 1.9kg/4lb left to go to reach my goal. I really don't think that I will do that well next week, I will be honest up front. It is my birthday on Thursday and my husband is taking me out for dinner, then on Saturday night my sister and her husband are cooking me dinner, and then on Sunday my husbands parents are cooking lunch for me. So with all those dinners and lunches I think that I don't have a hope losing anything next week, but I will still do my best. I will have to try to do some extra exercise.

Well until the next post, hang in there all that are trying to lose that extra weight you can do it!

Week 6 - Weigh in

Tuesday 17th February

I was just saying to my husband that I think you get a bit slack when you only have a few kilos left to lose. You don't think that the little bit of something you are not suppose to have will hurt. We did however go out on the weekend to a friends 40th, I did eat more than I should have, I did only have two glasses of wine though as I was driving.

It has been raining all week so I have been a bit slack with the exercise, I have still been doing some lunges and squats, but not very much in the way of fat burning exercise, oops. So I don't think that I will do really well this week. I also think that you get to a stage where the last few kilos are always the hardest to lose.

This is what the weights and measurements have to say about it.

Goal weight =60kg/130lbs

Weight & Measurements - Week 6
Weight = 63kg/138lbs - lost 100g/lb :o)
Chest = 89cm/35" - Stayed the same
Waist = 82cm/32.2" - lost 4cm/1.5"
Hips = 87cm/34.2" - lost 4cm/1.5"
Thighs = 88cm/34.6" (legs together) - lost .5cm/"

As I said I think that you plateau and it is harder to lose the last few kilos. Looking at the weight and measurements this week though I actually didn't do too bad, I only lost 100grams/3.5oz but if you look at the measurements I lost 4cm/1.5" from both my waist and my hips, woo hoo way to go! You have to be happy with that. I have been wearing clothes that haven't seen the day light in years and I feel great.

I will have to post the before and after pictures soon.

Week 5 - Weigh in

Monday 9th February

I am a day early this week as I am going on a girls night out tomorrow night, so won't be home.

Well I feel really really good, I feel like a new person almost. I went through my wardrobe over the weekend and made a pile of all my pregnant/fat clothes, they are on the way to the clothing bin. Wooo hooo..

I tried on some of my smaller clothes and I am starting to fit into them, I was so proud of myself I was running around the house saying to my husband "Look I can fit into them again". He is also very proud of me. So here are the details of my weigh in this week.

Goal weight =60kg/130lbs

Weight & Measurements - Week 5
Weight = 63.1kg/139lbs - lost 1.6kg/3.5lb :o)
Chest = 89cm/35" - Stayed the same
Waist = 86cm/33.8" - Stayed the same
Hips = 91cm/35.8" - lost .5cm
Thighs = 88.5cm/34.8" (legs together) - lost 2.5cm/.98"

Well I think that I have done really well, I have lost a total of 4kg/8.8lbs in 5 weeks even with my bad week.

Strip That Fat is a really good program and it is really working for me, it has taught me a lot about the foods that I am eating, what to eat and what not to eat. It has been really helpful. I still have the occasional day where you just want to eat something really bad, I just had to eat one of the childrens biscuits this week it was too much for me. You can't be good ALL the time.

Week 4 - Weigh in

Tuesday 3rd February

I feel really good about this week, I have done all that I should and I can feel it in my body.

Goal weight =60kg/130lbs

Weight & Measurements - Week 4
Weight = 64.7kg/142.6lbs - lost 1.2kg/2.6lb :o)
Chest = 89cm/35" - lost 3cm/1"
Waist = 86cm/33.8" - lost 1cm/.39"
Hips = 92.5cm/36.4" - lost 2cm/.78"
Thighs = 91cm/35.8" (legs together) - lost .5cm/"

Wow that was really good, I thought that I could feel it this week. I will have to sort out my wardrobe this coming week, throw all the pregnant clothes out and slowly bring out all the nice slimmer clothing. Not too fast though I still have a couple more kilos to loose before I am going to be able to fit in to all the clothes.

It has been really hot here in Sydney so I have been able to do some swimming this week, which has been nice and I like swimming as an exercise because you don't really feel like you are doing anything but you are.

Week 3 - Weigh in

Tuesday 27th January

Ok here goes, as we know it wasn't a good weekend but I did my best. Lets see if I have lost some weight this week. I have still been following the Strip That Fat program.

Goal weight =60kg/130lbs

Weight & Measurements - Week 3
Weight = 65.9kg/145.2lbs - found 100grams/.22lb :o(
Chest = 92cm/36.2" - lost .5cm/"
Waist = 87cm/34.2" - found .5cm/."
Hips = 94.5cm/37.2" - lost .5cm/"
Thighs = 91.5cm/36.2" (legs together) - lost 1cm/.39"

Well not too bad over all considering. Some lost some found, I will have to do better next week. I will just have to try harder on the weekends. I don't seem to have the problem during the week, I have even stopped finishing off the childrens dinners for them and just eating my own.

I will also have to attempt to do some more exercise which will help, but finding the time is not always that easy.

Fingers crossed for the next weigh in.

Not a good weekend

Monday 26th January

As I mentioned in the last post, we were going away to my parents house which is about a 4 1/2 hour drive south of Sydney. It was a long weekend here in Australia which made it even worse, 3 days to be bad instead of just the 2.

I was doing ok in the beginning but then there were the sticky date & walnut buns and I really like them, the trouble was I bought a dozen of them to share and not everyone turned up, so consequently there were some left over, I just had to have another one to make sure it was still as good as the first one I ate. Oops the program says to treat yourself occasionally, but I don't think it meant that much.

I think that it should be ok, but tomorrow will be the tell tale. See what the weights and measurements have got to say about it. Fingers crossed for tomorrows weigh in.

Week 2 - Weigh in

Tuesday 20th January

Feeling really good and it hasn't been that difficult. I am enjoying the walking and eating healthy foods. But only the weight & measurements are going to tell how well I have done so here goes.

Goal weight =60kg/130lbs

Weight & Measurements - Week 2
Weight = 65.8kg/145lbs - lost 1.3kg/2.8lbs YAY!!!
Chest = 92.5cm/36.4" - lost 1.5cm/.5"
Waist = 86.5cm/34" - lost 2.5cm/.9"
Hips = 95cm/37.4" - same
Thighs = 92.5cm/36.4" (legs together) - lost 2.5cm/.9"

Wow, I am really pleased with my first weeks results, and it really wasn't that difficult with the Strip That Fat program. They have a section on exercise which I thought was interesting, telling you about what muscles burn calories and easy ways to work on them.

Ready for another week, I am not looking forward to the coming weekend though as we are going away to my parents. My Dad is a chef and always cooks up a storm, so that will be difficult to resist, but again I will do my best.

Feeling pretty good

Friday 16th January

All is going well so far, I am feeling pretty good. I have been doing some walking in the evenings, once the children have gone to bed. I haven't felt really really hungry yet, and I have been drinking more water.
The eating plan has been working well, I have found if I don't really feel like what is on the plan, I just work out the calorie count and substitute with something that I do feel like, with the same count. Easy.
The weekend is approaching and that is always a testing time, but I am determined, I will do my best.

The first weigh in

Tuesday 13th January

Day 1 of my weight loss journey, here we go. I am feeling good about this, I would really like to fit into all the clothes that I could before having my first child in 2006 and second in 2008.
I can do this!.

I will weigh in and measure on Tuesday evenings each week around about the same time. The program says that you can weigh yourself everyday, keeping in mind water retention and other factors, but I think that weekly is enough for me.

Goal weight =60kg/130lbs

Weight & Measurements - Week 1
Weight = 67.1kg/147.9lbs
Chest = 94cm/37"
Waist = 89cm/35"
Hips = 95cm/37.4"
Thighs = 95cm/37.4" (legs together)

Ok now that I have put that down in writing I am ready to work on it. I have generated the 14 day diet plan that Strip That Fat provide, it seems like a reasonable variety of foods. I have done the shopping and I am ready for the week ahead.
